Ed & Tammy
About Our Founders
Rev. Dr. Ed Glover and his wife Tammy have been pastoring on the North Side of Pittsburgh for the past 27 years. Together they founded Urban Impact Foundation in 1995 to help address the profound and unique challenges facing today’s urban communities, which he saw first-hand every day for over 9 years as a resident of Pittsburgh’s North Side and youth pastor at Allegheny Center Alliance Church. During this time, Rev. Glover recognized that the trials of children & family in urban communities could only be effectively addressed through holistic development of the mind, body and spirit through Christ– one person, one family, one block at a time. Thus, Urban Impact was born!
Always a mover and a shaker, Rev. Glover had founded Global Impact USA six years prior to Urban Impact’s inception. Global Impact is an annual one-day missions event giving students the chance to respond to the call of God in their lives and put it into practice in one day, right in the city. For the next 24 years, he would incite over 55,000 kids from 19 cities to participate in the Global Impact mission. As a result, this produced over 1,000 pastors and missionaries to serve around the world.
Today, through the continued support of many individuals and partner organizations, Urban Impact continues to foster Christian community development throughout the Pittsburgh area through athletics, academics, performing arts and ministry. In October 2011, Rev. Glover was honored for his contributions by the Epoch Missions Gala held in Atlanta, GA, which honors individuals serving both locally and abroad for their long-term impact and holistic influence on community. Ed took the top award in the “Restoring Places” category, out of 448 nominees across 32 countries.
Rev. Glover has become a highly respected and sought-after speaker. He is regularly scheduled to speak at churches both locally and nationally. He currently serves as Associate Preacher and Director of Urban Missions for Christ Church at Grove Farm in Sewickley, PA.
Ed graduated from Lambuth University in Tennessee, and received his Masters of Divinity from Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, NY. In 2001, Ed received an honorary doctorate from Toccoa Falls College for his work in the urban setting. In 2003, Ed and Tammy were recipients of the Alumni of the Year Award for both the Alliance Theological Seminary and Nyack College. Ed has served as an adjunct professor at Nyack College, and he and Tammy served as adjunct professors at Alliance Theological Seminary.
